Always Standing by the Patient's Side
Book Title: Always Standing by the Patient's Side
Synopsis:
Today, Taiwan's healthcare system is accelerating toward collapse, and the reform of the National Health Insurance (NHI) is a matter of utmost urgency. For NHI reform to succeed, the participation of the entire populace is required. Only after the public, the medical community, and the government reach a consensus on "what is wanted and what is not" regarding the NHI, can a co-designed system possibly buy "health" for the people and restore "professional dignity" to medical workers.
— Huang Ta-fu
Dr. Huang Ta-fu, a physician who upholds the philosophy of "respecting life, respecting human nature, and pursuing truth," planned and established the country's first specialized cancer hospital—Koo Foundation Sun Yat-Sen Cancer Center—in 1990. For over twenty years, not only have the hospital's treatment results been plain for all to see, but it has also fully put into practice the spirit of "patient welfare as the core" and "treating patients as one's own family."
Filled with the zeal of a spiritual devotee, Director Huang has dedicated himself to elevating Taiwan's medical standards and reforming medical education, remaining steadfast for decades. In this book, from NHI reform to the improvement of medical quality, and from hospital management and medical values to the selection and cultivation of doctors, Director Huang puts forward earnest suggestions and directions for improvement. He hopes to forge a healthier future for Taiwan's healthcare system and secure true protection for your health and mine.
