Kenya—Loki (Lokichogio), a border town consumed by the flames of war.
The Red Cross and Doctors Without Borders (MSF) have established a hospital here.
Confronting the crisis is a respected Japanese physician, Koichiro Shimada.
He heals not only bodies but also minds, guiding traumatized children through drawing and basketball, helping them regain their health and vibrant spirits.
One day, a dying child is brought into this hospital.
Under Koichiro's sleepless and relentless efforts to save him, the boy finally pulls through.
However, when he opens his eyes, his expression is fierce and filled with distrust...
—The child soldier, Ndung'u, twelve years old at the time, already had nine lives taken by his own hands.
"Can someone like me, a murderer, still become a doctor?" Ndung'u asked.
"Yes, you can. As long as you want to, you can definitely do it," Koichiro replied with a gentle smile.
Inspired by these words, Ndung'u strives tirelessly to better himself. However, Koichiro suddenly vanishes...
Twenty years later, Ndung'u, now an exceptional doctor, arrives in Ishinomaki City, a place left devastated after a catastrophic earthquake...
