A Doctor's Redemption
Book Title: A Doctor's Redemption
Synopsis:
The Doctor's Redemption
A doctor who loves her profession and treats patients like family,
yet finds herself rejected by the hospital?
Chen Xiaolan, a physician at a community hospital in Shanghai,
accidentally uncovered a massive medical conspiracy,
marking the beginning of her twenty-year crusade against medical fraud...
"I often feel frustrated and even desperate.
I only wanted to uphold the most basic dignity and professional ethics of a doctor,
so how did I end up entangled in a 'war' with no end in sight?" —— Chen Xiaolan
▍Zhu Xiaojun, winner of the Lu Xun Literary Prize, personally interviewed Chen Xiaolan and patients defrauded by unscrupulous hospitals. Unethical manufacturers, shoddy equipment, counterfeit drugs, sham treatments, and exorbitant overcharging—all kinds of absurd corruption within the medical profession are presented one by one through the factual style of reportage literature!
To these "devils in white coats," the suffering of patients is their cash cow. They fabricate illnesses out of thin air, exaggerate minor ailments into major crises, subject patients to endless laboratory tests, prescribe expensive drugs with high kickbacks, and even push patients onto the operating table for unnecessary surgeries. If patients fall into their hands, a minor illness can cost them their life savings, while a major disease leads to family ruin.
Chen Xiaolan, a physician at a Shanghai community hospital, discovered that her employer had long been defrauding patients by administering sham treatments with a counterfeit and substandard apparatus known as the "photo-quantum oxygen transmission liquid therapy device." Countless patients not only had their health threatened but also had to pay massive medical expenses. Upholding the benevolence and responsibility of a medical practitioner, she chose to expose the medical underworld, embarking on a twenty-year crusade against medical fraud. This meant standing in direct opposition to vested interests. The medical corruption syndicate nourished by these astronomical profits was unimaginably massive. Consequently, she repeatedly found herself in jeopardy—facing stalking, obstruction, threats, and framing—yet she persevered in reporting various issues. Confronting challenges with unyielding resolve, she ultimately captured the attention and support of the general public and was selected as one of CCTV's "People Who Moved China."
"Medical device enterprises manufacture counterfeits, hospitals use them, and doctors administer sham treatments to patients—this has become an open secret. In the healthcare system, this process is practically a flow chart for all parties to reap profits." —— Chen Xiaolan
