Clarivate Released the 2025 Journal Citation Reports
Clarivate released the 2025 Journal Citation Reports on June 18. Marking the 50th anniversary of this authoritative annual report, the new edition continues to provide a comprehensive evaluation of the world's leading academic journals, helping academic institutions, researchers, and publishers accurately measure the credibility and impact of scholarly journals.
📊 2025 JCR Key Highlights
- Comprehensive Coverage: Includes 22,249 journals across 254 disciplines.
- Open Access: Features more than 6,200 Gold Open Access journals.
- Global Diversity: Covers academic journals from 111 countries and regions (including 14,591 in science, 7,559 in social sciences, and 3,368 in arts and humanities).
- New Additions: 618 journals received a Journal Impact Factor (JIF) for the first time.
- Research Integrity Enhancement: To ensure transparency and mitigate the impact of retracted research, citations to and from retracted articles have been excluded from the numerator of the JIF calculation (though retracted papers still count toward the citable items in the denominator). This policy changes the JIF values for only about 1% of the journals.
